ACTIVITIES


Neighborhood Association
is made up of concerned adults living in the neighborhood who desire to make positive changes in their community. Additionally, they functions as an advisory council to Bridge Ministry to develop programming that will benefit and support the neighborhood.
 

Homework Help/Tutoring is offered 4 days/weekly during the school year for students to come for help with their school work. Additional Math and Reading skills are offered twice weekly. Bridge staff communicate with local schools to provide individual assistance for students.
 

Summer Day Camp is for youth 5 to 12 years of age. Weekly activities include faith lessons, educational skill development, sports, field trips, community service, and of course food.
 

Through Bridge Market residents have the opportunity to purchase merchandise with “Bridge Bucks” they have earned as an incentive from participating in our programming. There are three Bridge Markets during the year.
 

Adult Bible Study is held twice monthly by Mrs. Shirley Jean. She has a very entertaining way of presenting Bible stories in a practical way.
 

Youth Bible Study has one story per week, during the school year, that is presented in three different formats during the week. The first day the lesson is introduced with a skit, the next day the story is discussed in small groups, and the last day an activity or craft is done relating to the story.
 

Job Club is a work readiness program that teaches responsibility for youth 13-16 years of age. Students learn everything from interview skills to survival in the workplace. A daily stipend is earned with on half paid directly to them and the other half held in a savings account until H.S. graduation.
 

Boy Scouts of America Bridge Ministry charters a Cub Pack 915 and Boy Scout Troop 915. This is a great avenue to provide life skills and character development for boys that is presented by men.
 

Girls Clubs are designed to teach Biblical principles to develop positive life sustaining character traits. Activities include faith lessons, field trips, sports, practical life skills, and community service. Bridge Ministry offers two clubs; Imani Girls is for girls 13 years and older and Spirit Girls for 8 – 12 year olds.
 

Extra Curricula Activities To provide additional variety of activities during the school year. Flag Football, Music Lessons and Arts & Crafts are available Friday afternoons for youth to participate in.
 

A Computer Lab with six stations is available for youth and adults to use. Computers are used for youth to do homework assignments, learn typing skills, and for enjoyment. During tutoring the computers are used with elementary students to enhance their math and reading skills.
